The Bare Melcessities Southwestern Sun Pre Publication Tour hits the open road...

We started with the dream of an RV and cascading across the southwest in a blaze of younger Golden Girl energy. But. alas. do to injury and apathy, and a trippling of the RV rental cost... we depart in the trusty German engineered, built for speed, BMW. cue the inspirational female road music. Natasha Beddingfield's song... Unwritten takes us out of LA in blazing glory. What the road has in store for us... who knows. check out the lyrics. I am unwritten, Can't read my mind I'm undefined I'm just beginning The pen's in my hand Ending unplanned Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips Drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today...

From our Last Wish Archive!

When TM Zink died in 1930 his last wish was that his money be used to create a womanless library. It was reported that Zink "left some $50,000 in trust for 75 yeas, at the end of which time he hoped the fund would have swelled to $3 million, enough to found the Zink Womanless Library. The words 'No Women Admitted' were to mark each entrance. No books, works of art, or decorations by women were to be permitted in or about the premises. “My intense hatred of women,” he explained in the will, “is not of recent origin or development nor based upon any personal differences I ever had with them but is the result of my experiences with women, observations of them, and study of all literatures and philosophical works.” His family successfully challenged the will. Zink was a lawyer from Iowa."

It all gets "curiouser and curiouser.'

What a year with headlines like... "Too big to fail." "Pop icon exodus." "...creating a uniquely American health care plan." "North Korea convicts Journalists." "Clinton frees them." "Sotomayer. is that Latina woman." "Geithner sells American Debt." "China's youth can't support their old retiring population." A transformation is underfoot. On all fronts. When change is in the air. what I like to do is count my blessings. (instead of sheep.) 'Cause the whole thing makes me want to take a nap.
