Freedom Demands Your Awareness

Slavery is not a product of external circumstances it is an internal projection of the bonds placed on us by our fears and that need to contain our experience of the divine in our humanity by numbing ourselves to its awareness.   When Harriet Tubman said 'I freed a thousand slaves and I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.'  She fully understood and expressed the self imprisonment that surrounds our days and the fear of stepping outside of the enslaver of our thinking into freedom. Yes, metaphorical death may be necessary because stepping into the unknown onward to freedom requires the journey into the unknown.    David Foster Wallace spoke of this enslavemen t that numbs the self into unconsciousness until awareness sets in, with his "This is water" speech before a graduating class of college students urging them to find their water of experience, to step into their lives with great curiousity and courage in...
