Susan Sarandon to Film Ping-Pong Reality Show

Image
Susan Sarandon to Film Ping-Pong Reality Show It's official icons of Film are going where the entertainment action is... The Reality morass continues its consumption of an industry hunting down Where The Wild Money is... I don't hold it against anyone... AND. I quite like the verve of the club. Check out her ping pong NY club SPiN here . Ps. The Clubs eatery DUCKS and its collection of chefs gets a Mel thumbs up for pure adorableness!!   In the rush to feed the Attention Deficit technology applications, let's not forget -- the artistry and enduring connection of a crafted feature film... and continue to support and celebrate the longer cycles of the beautifully imagined feature film. The Balanchine Legacy Lives On

Image
Even as the last ballerina he hired retires from the stage... In The New York Times Gia Kourlas writes DARCI KISTLER has a way of walking onto a stage and casting a spell. For years you could be sure that someone in the audience — in barely a whisper — would remind you that the woman with the honey blond hair, broad shoulders and killer legs was the last ballerina trained and hired by George Balanchine. (Read the whole article here . ) Dancers are at once honest and courageous giving flight to form through movement. When you see a great dancer you are seeing life being born before your eyes. George Balanchine, regarded as the “Father of American Ballet,” had a belief while pushing limits and getting bigger, more extraordinary results from his dancers that everyone learns a certain amount and thinks, “Enough, finally I’m done;” I’ve arrived. When pushed, they are surprised to discover, “Wow, I can do that!?” In response to the person’s surprise at their own results, Balanchine always s...

TOTAL FILM MAKING

Don't leave anything on the table. Edited from his years teaching writing at USC the book The Total Film-Maker by Jerry Lewis is a ground breaker in the field of entertainment and a go to for anyone looking to impact the world of cinema. A refreshing and energizing breeze before any feature undertaking. "The total film-maker is a man who gives of himself through emulsion, which in turn acts as a mirror. What he gives he gets back." -- Jerry Lewis A tiny gem from the book-- Joe Mankiewicz once said "a good director is a man who creates an atmosphere for work." Enter... THE MILLION DOLLAR HUG The transference is at the core of dealing with actors on the human level. Warmth, affection and understanding flow from it, and a two-way street of hugging develops. You may wind up hugging each other as sons-of-bitches in the worst kind of battle, but beneath it is honest care and concern for each other and the film. There are copies of the book available at Amazon... cli...

Enjoy this moment. Let the essence of your self radiate today and blossom with every word you speak. Open your heart and Live. Fully.           Around me the trees stir in their leaves And call out, “Stay awhile.” The light flows from their branches. And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say, “and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine.” -- Mary Oliver When I Am Among the Trees from Thirst -- Let the shimmering ripple of nature expand through your being Let the light glow filling your heart with full flowing presence Let that beautiful expression of love reflect on the wind Expanding outward amplifying and attune with all the sounds of the world Make today a beautiful reminder that everyone is here to shine, with light and love. Do it. I'm serious. Now. Enjoy this moment. Lots of Love, Melanie

When you see a Great teacher you are seeing a Work of Art.

To teach is to demonstrate... It's time to turn our knowledge into wisdom and spend it to educate our children. A Week of Limitless Possibility!

In thinking about all that this past year presented. All the things I'm grateful for, all the lessons I have learned and most importantly all the growing up I was able to achieve... I wanted to spend this day extending my appreciation for everyone who I met, everyone who laughed with me and cried with me, everyone whose paths continue to march toward the greatest expression of our humanity on this planet we all love so dearly. I thank you all. In every way. Here's to you -- all my purposeful powerful friends whose laughs, loves and lives beat into a wondrous future filled with limitless possibilities... I say without a doubt -- to any problem perceived or otherwise Love always remains the answer. Enjoy a beautiful summer season, embodying the gracious cover that the summer sun provides and when the gentle winds blow may they nourish your soul with a sweet caress... ps. You know I can't resist a Sinatra song.... Ce magnifique!

CREATE A NEW STORY

As weddings are celebrated and vacations are planned, as the planet crunch we are all experiencing reaches a boiling point. It's Time. Let any story that no longer serves the deeper peaceful-ness of your being fall away. Step into the next possibility of the greatest expression of your wholeness. Turn all the absolute shining brilliance of possibility into full on probability. Let go of your anxiousness, let go of your judgment, let go of your tired, heavy, boring, story. Cinderella in its Deeper Truth.

"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true." Cinderella or "The Little Glass Slipper" (French: Cendrillon, ou La petite Pantoufle de Verre) is a classic folk tale embodying the archetypal story of unjust oppression that ultimately gives way to a triumphant remembering. "The word "Cinderella" has, by analogy, come to mean one whose attributes are unrecognised, or one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect." "A dream is a wish your heart makes" was written and composed by Mack David, Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston for the Walt Disney film version of Cinderella (1950) There have been countless tellings of this stor...

Poetry Party!

Anthony Merchado's Last Night As I Was Sleeping translated by Robert Bly Last night as I was sleeping, I dreamt—marvelous error!— that a spring was breaking out in my heart. I said: Along which secret aqueduct, Oh water, are you coming to me, water of a new life that I have never drunk? Last night as I was sleeping, I dreamt—marvelous error!— that I had a beehive here inside my heart. And the golden bees were making white combs and sweet honey from my old failures. Last night as I was sleeping, I dreamt—marvelous error!— that a fiery sun was giving light inside my heart. It was fiery because I felt warmth as from a hearth, and sun because it gave light and brought tears to my eyes. Last night as I slept, I dreamt—marvelous error!— that it was God I had here inside my heart. You choose what story you want to live in. It's as simple as that. Let all the bees, elves, angels, helpers, whatever, do their job of making "sweet honey of your failures" by being willing to be ...

"...I had to believe it in my heart..."

There were so many wonderful heartfelt moments in last nights Tony Awards... as usual the ratings were quite low... so in case you missed it... Here's a couple of inspired moments... Viola Davis shares the vision of possibility (after the lame Annie/Sean Hayes bit) Note to the Producers: Dressing a Dude up as Little Orphan Annie is most certainly not funny. Theater is a passport to all the dreams that ever were and ever will be. Katie Finneran winner Best Featured Actress in a play Promises, Promises seemed to be living that truth in its fullest light~! ps. David Hyde Pierce does not look well. I hope he is okay!

Bluebirds Singing a Song...

Irving Berlin is one of the great treasures of our American musical history. His artistry so universal and so loving even a country version sung by Willie Nelson lives and breathes into the space of wonder and delight that flowed from its source... Nothing but Blue Skies from now on.

Barbra she aint ... However!!!

Lea Michelle cranked Don't Rain on My Parade from Funny Girl at last nights Tonys... (check out the second part of the video -- after the Matthew Morrison take on Gypsy's All I Need Now is the Girl) @ Yahoo! Video

A Favorite Tony Moment.

Side Show is a quirky musical about Daisy and Violet Hilton two conjoined Twins who became famous stage performers in the 30's. The show was critically acclaimed but short lived and honored with four Tony nominations after it had closed. The sheer force and beauty of two women standing powerfully on the Richard Rogers stage is more than enough to show the full range and power that is the art form known as musical theater. For everyone who has felt different. Who has a dream and doesn't know what to do next. Who didn't think anyone would be there... The Tonys Award will air Live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS June 13th hosted by Sean Hayes.

The Birth of Creativity

It's no secret I'm a huge Frank Capra fan. As a writer and a film maker and lover of all things cinema there can be no greater player in the landscape of American entertainment. His autobiography THE NAME ABOVE THE TITLE is one of the best autobiographies ever written. It spans his life, his work, his thoughts, his observations and the passion for seeing the "natural" expression of the invisible. The work he is most remembered for is a small piece of the Capra story, this is a man who witnessed the transitions of an industry, who had no formal training but was deeply in touch with the environment for the subtler energies and spirit in which humanity flourishes. Chapter Six that Capra entitled The Sound and The Fury offers a parallel to every story of change and transition. For everyone who has lived through a tremendous transformational event and is using it to connect further to the fullest expression of their being... this one's for you. "On the historic n...

Mel's Weekend Zen Tarot Reading...

Image
There is no question a huge Summer solstice Mel fiesta is brewing! In this Osho Zen Tarot "diamond reading" card set used for clarity on a specific issue. The issue (and the center card) came up INTEGRATION Major Arcana -- A very small bridge exists. If that bridge is broken through some accident, through some physiological defect or something else, the person becomes split, the person becomes two persons -- and the phenomenon of schizophrenia or split personality happens. The person becomes like two persons. If the bridge is strengthened then crystallization arises. What George Gurdjieff used to call "the two minds becoming one, the meeting of the male and the female within, the meeting of the yin and yang etc." Commentary: The image of integration is the unio mystica, the fusion of previously experienced dualities of life rather than night opposing day, dark suppressing light, they work together to create a unified whole, turning endlessly one into the other eac...

Sock Love!

Image
It sat in my drawer, then in a box, and then in the closet waiting... I never gave up hope. I never lost faith. After over a year of separation there has been an unbelievable re-union. My favorite running socks have been paired back and it feels so good. I'll be honest there were quite a few moments where despair almost caused me to throw the sad single away... It was deeply heart breaking to see it unusable, out of place, of no use... Something made me hold on. When I unpacked an old suitcase. There is was. Waiting. Patiently. I sighed a huge relief. I dug in the closet and that's when it hit me. Miracles happen. One sock has returned to its holy pairing. Don't give up. Many sad and purposeless single socks need you!

Celebrate the Wooden in You!

Image
In honor of a life lived beautifully, competitively, lovingly and with grace crack open a can of John Wooden wisdom in memory of the penultimate life "Coach." Blessed to grow up in Indiana with a sage like Father who cherished imprinting his young son with thoughts like this... “Be true to yourself. Make each day a masterpiece. Help others. Drink deeply from good books. Make friendship a fine art. Build a shelter against a rainy day.” Many friends of mine use the Wooden pyramid of success as a compass for business and personal integrity. You could do a lot worse for yourself. Success is how you perceive your wonderful life. "Peace of mind attained only from self satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you are capable." A true teacher demonstrating through action. A man who never used the word win. "I believe things will work out as they should providing we do what we should." My god bless you and love you and may you continue t...

Move into the light. Quote of the Day -- Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up. Anne Lamott

Quote of the Day

Image
"Relationships are assignments. They are part of a vast plan for our enlightenment, the Holy Spirit's blueprint by which each individual soul is led to greater awareness and expanded love. Relationships are the Holy Spirit's laboratories in which He brings together people who have the maximal opportunity for mutual growth." "Often we see a couple who has separated or divorced and look with sadness at the 'failure' of their relationship. But if both people learned what they were meant to learn, then that relationship was a success." Excerpted from A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles Brought to you by The Bare Melcessities.
