Today's ceremonial love activism is based on the service Dia De Los Santos y Fieles Difuntos Arco Iris Day of Saints and Faithful Dead at All Saints in Pasadena, CA abbreviated for sharing. Dia de Los Muertos originated in Mexico, before the Spanish conquest. The exact date is unknown but it has been speculated that the idea originated with the Olmecs, possibly as long as 3000 years ago. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. Festive and colorful, it serves more as a celebration honoring our loved  ones in the way we remembered them while they were alive. The era of great leadership seems to be on a hiatus and really when it finally emerges is not wholly going to right this ship. We are in a time when taking personal responsibility must ignite the way forward. Where we've been good we are going to need to be great and where we've been unconscious we are going to wake up. The one thing we can be sure of... the person standing in front of you, driving next to you, working down the hall has experienced, or is experiencing as much trauma as you. Be kind. Be a light so others, our children, our neighbors, our communities, here and across the globe, can rise and shine. Everyday. Why We Speak of Love. Every day We speak of love to put our words into action to extend peace. Everyday we speak of love is another day our collective ❤️ family gets to release another chain that binds us to a system set up to fail us, we speak of love so the lies in our beliefs fall away. We speak of love to remember and  deepen our connection to each other. As we mourn and grieve for all we have lost, for the repair and reparations that must flow. May we remember them and how we are always connected. May we find ways to honor them. May we grow into deeper practices of love in action. May we be guided to the people and places and things that will be with us as we are lifted into our knowing heart. As we each take the time to experience our emotions, to hug our families, to do what needs to be done, let's remember, gentle loving action is happening. Yes. it is a time of deep unrest and we are recognizing our thoughts and words and acts are consequential, they create consequences. We are into the deep process of re-birth.
